Day and Weekend Retreats

Day and weekend retreats are designed to connect families with one another. Parents need support from an understanding community who are facing the same challenges. Siblings need time with peers who are going through a shared experience. Children with autism need understanding and a safe environment to experience the freedom to be themselves. Each retreat emphasizes experiential learning, providing the space to work on social development and interaction, motor function and sensory integration.

Day Retreats:
Families will be assigned to a group, and will rotate through a series of activities together as a family. Each group activity is optional, and alternative activities are always available, along with access to the indoor sensory room and the outdoor sensory space. Lunch and snack provided. We understand that meal planning can be stressful. Our team will work to provide meal options to meet your family's dietary needs.

Weekend Retreats:
Weekend Retreats have many of the same elements of the day retreat extended over an entire weekend! There are three lodging options available: a room in Miracle Lodge, an all-season cabin or dorm space, or camping in Ironwood's campground. Worried about the overnight stay, but live close by? Consider signing up to come just for the day and come and go as you please. Keep in mind some of the best moments of camp are when families come together around the campfire. If you are on the fence about staying overnight, we encourage you to attempt to plan to do so... we have witnessed transformational moments in times like these!

How You Can Help

Donate: Because families impacted by autism face financial stress, Ironwood intends to offer this program at low or no cost, allowing families to pay as they are able. Your generous donation makes this possible and will make a profound impact on the lives of families participating in our autism family program.

Volunteer: Providing a safe and accepting environment for families is critical to the success of this program. This is only possible with the support of a caring team of volunteers. We invite you to discover the joy of serving families by volunteering your time.
