For those going into 9th-12th grade in the fall of 2019

July 7-12, 2019

Encounter camp

Encounter camp at Ironwood is a great opportunity for campers to encounter the presence of God through worship, teaching, and community. All of our classic camp activities are taken to the next level; along with Chapel, worship, "BIFFER", "cabin clean up", big games, and team building activities, many unique and special events are planned. Our speaker, and worship leader will lead campers through a week of pursuing God, and encourage them to share what they have learned at camp and put it to use after they leave camp and enter their personal mission field.

Our track program gives campers the opportunity to focus their time on an activity that interests them. The will spend time each morning in their track, learning new skills that they can take with them.

Shooting Sports: Participants will learn the basics of firearms safety for rifle, pistol, and shotguns.  The SE Minnesota Sportsman's Club is providing NRA certified shooting instructors and shooting range time for this camp. Most shooting will be done at the Club. Transportation will be provided. Additional waivers for the Stewartville Sportsman Club and SE MN Sportsman Club are required for this track.

Art: Participants will learn to use and exercise their creativity through many different areas of art including: sketching, watercolor, textiles, weaving, embroidery and tie dye. Most of all, the participants will come to an understanding of what it means to be made in the image of God who is the ultimate Creator. We are creative because we are made in His image, and this, more than anything else, should encourage us to ALWAYS be passionately creating!

Cooking:  Participants will have the opportunity to learn various kitchen skills and cooking methods, starting with the basics of safe and healthy food choices, then moving on to learning how to use many of the tools of cooking: knives, meat thermometers, measuring utensils, etc. Campers will help prep for one of the camp meals and try our hand at outdoor cooking! The best part is campers get to eat what they make each day!

Horsemanship: Do you want to learn more about horses OR you've never had the opportunity to ride yet? We have you covered! 9th-12th graders, let Ironwood horses teach you how special and unique they are thru God's eyes. Among the usual grooming, saddling and riding you will learn how a horse thinks and how you can apply concepts to everyday life.Limited spots available so sign up early!  We require that anyone registering for this camp weigh 225# or less. An additional equine waiver is required for this track.

Escape Room: New this year! Work with your team to create escape challenges.  Each team will consist of 4-5 people who will design a escape room challenge, potentially using our wonderful outdoor space.  Winning team will be awarded a prize.  The first day will be spent doing a team challenge to learn about this fun form of entertainment and team building.
Camp Cost:
  • $390.00
  • $150 Horsemanship
  • $20 early bird discount available if registration is received by May 1
  • $20 multi-child discount available
